I’m A Little White Flower In An Escape Game ☆ 19

Arc 2: 《Deadly High School》 Ch15 — Ch29

The detention room sat in a secluded corner of the school, occupying the third floor of the teacher's office building. The entire structure lay barren, devoid of life, with no experimental classes scheduled for the evening.

They scurried to the door of the detention room. As night crept in, the building halls swathed themselves in darkness. Their footsteps resounded in the vacant corridors, casting elongated shadows.

At the stroke of six, the students and teachers appeared on campus. An elderly man with a pallid, furrowed countenance and hollowness in his eyes materialized in front of the detention room door. He unsealed the door and ushered them in.

The wooden door groaned as it shut behind them, imprisoning them in profound darkness. Upon taking a few steps, Ruan Bai discerned that the detention room's capacity was less than ten square meters, a cramped space that would scarcely hold two individuals. The ground was slick and slimy, while the walls emanated a frigidity that sent shivers down one's spine. An inexplicable, peculiar smell lingered in the room, and there was no illumination source, leaving them submerged in pitch-blackness.

Even the faintest whisper of breath could be heard. The fear of the unknown slowly crept into their souls. Beyond lay an abandoned building; if an ordinary student were trapped inside, it would be too easy for their sanity to crumble.

However, following the game's modus operandi, the more perilous the situation, the greater the prospect of reward.

Per the school's code of conduct, students were forbidden from accessing the faculty offices during regular hours. Nonetheless, tonight presented an opportunity.

Once the elderly man's footsteps had faded into silence, Shen Qing Yun sprang into action. He deftly retrieved his tools from his pocket and pried the lock on the wooden door.

The door creaked open after a soft "click".

Shen Qing Yun removed his coat and placed it over Ruan Bai's shoulders. "I'll go out for a walk and see if I can find anything useful," he said, cautioning her, "It's dangerous outside at night, don't break school rules, stay here and call me if anything happens."

Ruan Bai was caught off guard by Shen Qing Yun's gesture and foolish suggestion and weakly responded, "Okay, Brother Qing Yun."

Satisfied, Shen Qing Yun nodded and turned to leave. Ruan Bai watched his back with mixed feelings, her lips twitching before following him out. She knew it was stupid to listen to Shen Qing Yun and stay in a place where people had died. Shen Qing Yun's move exposed a fact: it was likely that he would be attacked first.

He intended to use her as a decoy, and if she got injured and escaped, he expected her to call for help and alert him to the exact location of the ghosts.

Regrettably, she had to play the role of a foolish and weak little flower, so most likely, she'll need to do just that at some point. But she wondered why the female ghosts chose to attack men instead of women, considering fewer girls were in the game? She also wondered about the truth behind the girl's death and whether it was related to the extra boy in Class 9.

Shen Qing Yun must have had some private information. As an old hand, his means of investigating information were far superior to Ruan Bai's, which was only rich in theoretical experience. But he wouldn't say it.

Thinking of this, Ruan Bai felt a headache. She didn't know how to pick locks, but fortunately, the initiative was in her hands at the moment.

Ruan Bai paced around the entrance of the detention room, noticing the gradual drop in temperature as she passed the door. The darkness swallowed her surroundings, causing her to discard Shen Qing Yun's jacket and adopt a fearful expression. She began to walk towards his location, calling out, "Brother Qing Yun, it's so dark in here. I'm so scared as a girl staying here alone... where are you? Can you come and accompany me?"

Suddenly, the temperature plummeted, and a blackened red bloodstain oozed out of the detention room, trickling along the corner of the wall. It moved sluggishly, and Ruan Bai glanced at it, sensing an invisible presence dragging a wounded leg, inching forward step by step.

Tick-tock, tick-tock. The ticking of the clock echoed through the air.

The bloodstain grows deeper, transforming into a grotesque shape. Ruan Bai realized that the ghost had arrived, and the hunt had begun. Without hesitation, she raced to the staircase, studying the indoor design map on the wall. She squinted, deducing that Shen Qing Yun was probably in the principal's office on the second floor.

With a plan in mind, Ruan Bai seized the opportunity and lured the ghost to the second floor, where she believed Shen Qing Yun to be. Simultaneously, she wailed and sobbed, "There is still a boy here!"

"Brother Qing Yun," Ruan Bai said as she caught her breath, "you are the kindest and gentlest man I have ever met. Brother Qing Yun, do you know that just now, another girl died because of the school rules, and now there are two more boys in the school? Brother Qing Yun, I'm so scared that something will happen to you... where did you go?"

Ruan Bai moved through the darkness with the grace of a cat, shaking off the bloodstains as she ran and jumped. She arrived in the corridor near the principal's office, her lips curling slightly.

"Are you in... the principal's office?" she asked.

As soon as she finished speaking, there was a slight movement in the principal's office. At the same time, the bloodstains behind her surged rapidly.

...

Meanwhile, Shen Qing Yun, hiding in the principal's office, was searching for information quickly. He gradually showed an anxious look on his face. Unlike players like Ruan Bai, who could only vaguely judge whether ghosts were present, he could roughly calculate the time when the ghost would appear and could feel that the other party was approaching him.

"Brother Qing Yun," Ruan Bai cried outside, her voice becoming increasingly annoying.

Shen Qing Yun watched the blood dripping continuously from the ceiling and cursed silently, "Idiot," reluctantly putting down the hard-won information. He opened the door and ran out, knowing that the ghost should not have a vision and could not see people but could only find others through smell and sound.

Although he knew that the coat he gave to Ruan Bai before leaving wouldn't confuse the ghost for long, Shen Qing Yun was still aware of the danger the supernatural entity posed. A ghost was a ghost, after all, with lethal intent. A woman's physical strength could never match that of a man's. As long as he could distance Ruan Bai and himself enough to remain silent, the ghost might abandon its pursuit and attack her instead.

With this thought in mind, Shen Qing Yun sneered and bolted out the door. He ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction, leaving Ruan Bai far behind. But he was taken aback when he realized the woman was following him. Her footsteps echoed in his ears, not too near or too far, and he couldn't shake her off.

When he sprinted towards the stairs, and his hand grazed the escalator, Ruan Bai's voice drifted from a distance, "Brother Qing Yun, why do you want to go upstairs from that side?"

Her tone was curious, and there was no hint of breathlessness caused by physical exertion.

Shen Qing Yun: "......"

Shen Qing Yun was incredulous. How could a regular woman have such remarkable physical stamina? He had no choice but to hasten his pace and rush up the stairs in one go. He took several twists and turns and then had a sudden idea. He pivoted and darted into the half-opened teacher's office beside him.

Carefully shutting the door, Shen Qing Yun peeked through the crack to confirm that the outside was pitch-black and deserted. He wiped off the sweat and sat on the ground, gasping for breath. That woman was just too eerie. He had gone up and down the stairs three times to shake her off. Fortunately, he had been able to shake her off. The time spent at the gym had not been in vain.

Just as Shen Qing Yun was about to take a breather, Ruan Bai's soft and coquettish voice rang out clearly behind the door. "Brother Qing Yun, open the door, don't hide in the office; Softie wants to be with you..."

Shen Qing Yun cursed under his breath. How had she managed to find him again? Looking at the blood oozing from the ground, Shen Qing Yun didn't hesitate. He gritted his teeth, smashed the hallway window, and escaped, taking giant steps down the stairs.

When he reached the first floor and ducked into the men's restroom, Shen Qing Yun was exhausted. He leaned against the restroom wall, his eyes closed as he felt the peaceful air around him. For a moment, he was somewhat emotional. Ruan Bai couldn't possibly enter the men's restroom, no matter how hard she tried to find him. This would all come to an end eventually.

As he pondered it, the young girl Bai Ruan Ruan was innocent and endearing. Once he finished the game, he planned to remember to burn some paper money for her. However, just as a smile began to spread across his face, Ruan Bai's voice echoed like a shadow, hauntingly faint:

"Ugh, Brother Qing Yun, you're such a pain. Softie can't go into the men's room." Her voice was tinged with a hint of coquettishness: "Brother Qing Yun, don't leave me. You promised to protect me; how could you go back on your word?"

Shen Qing Yun: "......"

As he watched the blood slowly seep into his shoes, Shen Qing Yun felt a crushing darkness overcome him. His mind raced, and all he could muster was a brief bellow of rage: "Fuck!"
